Ideas for Hawaiian Party?

Hello!

I’m hosting a BBQ birthday party next weekend (hopefully with good weather) and I need some ideas for fancy dress (I’d like to avoid the cliche’d grass skirt and flower garland) so do you have any ideas that are different?

Also, any tips on decoration – the less expensive the better – and special hawaiian-type foods?

Much appreciated

PS – I’m female, a size 12 but not brave enough to go around in a bikini!!

Halloween Costume help! Hula/Hawaiian girl?

I want to dress up as a Hula/Hawaiian girl for Halloween. I don’t need to be dressed inappropriately, so I don’t want to wear a grass skirt with just a bikini or coconut top. Any suggestions on what else I can wear?

hawaiian costume characters?

I’m a student teacher and just found out we need to fancy dress tomorrow as a movie or book character. I have a hawaiian costume and was wondering if there were any good movie or book characters that my costume would go with

Luau Theme Parties

I’ve always been a very social person, so it’s not unusual for me to throw several parties throughout the year.

They range from small, intimate gatherings for just a handful of friends to huge events with more guests than my house can comfortably accommodate. Sometimes my parties coincide with holidays such as New Year’s or Halloween, but most of the time, I just throw them for the heck of it. Still, since my guest list is frequently the same each time, I feel like I have to change things up every now and then to keep people interested. That’s why I find it helpful to keep a list of theme party ideas handy.

Honestly, theme party ideas aren’t all that hard to come by. If pressed, you could probably rattle off at least five or six on your own right now. But the ones you come up with have likely been done to death (can you say Hawaiian luau?), and therefore won’t be all that appealing to prospective invitees. Plus, if you throw numerous bashes like I do, then you’re going to need a heck of a lot more theme party ideas than the few you can generate in five minutes.

One way to find theme party ideas is to check the Internet. There are lots of websites out there that give tips and advice on how to throw good parties, and some of the suggestions are actually pretty cool. For instance, I recently came across two excellent themes for my file that I’d never heard of before. One was called “Forever Young” and basically calls for guests to dress up in costumes that indicate what they wanted to be when they were kids (fireman, policeman, movie star, etc.) and for the host to serve food that youngsters would approve of, such as hot dogs, chips, pizza, pop, and the like. Another idea was to have a Wild, Wild West night in which guests would dress up as cowboys and cowgirls, and everyone would enjoy a cookout. Both of these sound fun, unique, and easy to pull off!

Another way to come up with good theme party ideas is to simply ask your friends. Chances are, they’ve been to a few themed gatherings over the years and can tell you which ones were effective and which were lame. You should be able to get a lot of suggestions this way, but the obvious drawback here is that at least one of your friends has already been to that type of bash before, which kind of defeats the purpose when you’re trying to do something different.

These two sources have yielded a number of great theme party ideas for me, and I’ve also come up with a few good ones all on my own. As a result, I’m always ready to try something new and put together an entertaining evening that my guests will end up talking about for months!

UK Hawaiian Luau Theme Party Items

Hi, im helping a friend plan her 14th party, but have no idea!
Its on easter sunday.. and we’ve left it a bit late!
If the weather is nice, i was thinking she could have a luau type party.. in the garden, music on, barbecue, pizza, drinks, and just general chat.
but we dont want to be bored, theres gonna be 5 of us, and dont really know what else to do!
we were thinking of maybe going back inside after a little bit and watching a film(s), and staying there, or maybe go back out until parents have collected us, with a bonfire, or chimnea going, and maybe roast marshmallows?
creative suggestions are greatful! :)

Where can i get Halloween Costumes?

Like where can i get some GOOD Costumes, such as wicthes, goth chicks, vampires?
Boynton Beach-Florida. is my location.
Wal-Mart.???
K-Mart And party city are alllll out!
ANY GOOD STORES FOR BUYING COSTUMES? PARTYCITY IS SOLD out

I was wonder woman last weekend for a party, revealing no more than I would if I were wearing a swimming suit and I practically live a short walk away from the beach. I was in my home with 50 of my friends, yet for some reason, wearing a revealing costume one time a year is considered sleezy and lacking self respect. Halloween is one day where you can dress out of character, I rarely show cleavage, much less anything else, and I rarely wear makeup. So why would I (or anyone else) be considered a sl*t?

Me and my partner are both in our early twenties and have a 1 1/2 year old son. We are looking for a nice safe place to move, with sunshine, trees, and plenty to do. We’re moving from a small town in Michigan (awful). I lived in Texas for 12 years and I liked it, but I love California, it’s just so expensive. I own a small children’s party service (face painting, costumes, balloon twisting, etc.) so I need a location where that would be successful.

Here’s some things I’d like to see:

Diverse, Open-minded
Safe Family Environment
Big on Art
Mild-Warm Weather Usually
Mid Price Range
Not a big busy city, but also not rural
Nature
Oh and under a 2 hour drive to the beach is a plus!

Thanks!

i need some ideas 12 and 13th yr old boys and girls are coming

Need some ideas for a Hawaiian theme cookout?

It’s not a full on luau with a pig roast (it will be someday) but everyone is bringing a covered dish and we are having mai tais. We bought some tiki torches, and I need more ideas for what we could do that’s not too expensive. Thanks!
I have 3 weeks!
I’m expecting around 25 people.
I live in SW PA so cherries, oaks, and maples are in my backyard, no ohia, eucalyptus, or palm trees unfortunately

Food and snacks for Hawaiian theme Bridal shower?

I’m throwing a bridal shower for my future sister in law and i’m looking to spend MINIMAL money on it. (Not a huge fan of her, and have hardly any money to spend anyway) Regardless, I’m going to make sure she enjoys herself. I was thinking along the lines of egg/chicken salad sandwiches, but what should i make with them? It’s in May, so the weather should be nice, I was thinking "summer-y" foods.
decoration ideas would be appreciated, too!

Please Help! I was given an old desk. Its part wood and part pressboard. My daughter’s room is themed hawiian.
I don’t want to sand it or remove stain. Its dark stained. Its not smooth anymore because of how old it is. I would like to know some craft ideas to make it look new again and work with her room. Thank you in advance.

I need some creative suggestions and some hawaiian food and drink recipes.

there is a park next to the beach.

I had a problem when I had to help out in getting garlands in a recent birthday party as the theme was "Hawaiian". Instead of having to spend more $ with buying real flowers, we created garlands made out of creap papers – which comes in various colours.

We are going to do cut up pineapple and fruit with melted chocoloate but we need ideas for other side dishes. These are teenagers so nothing real elaborate.

Its a birthday party for two adults. We are having anywhere from 100-150 people.

My group of friends are in their 20′s and we live in Ohio. What could we do to make this party memorable and unique?
by the way, "clothing optional" has already been thought of so Ideas not centered around that would be appreciated.

Summer Party Themes and Ideas?

Me and my wife just finished up a Summer Party this past weekend and it was themed Tiki – Hawaiian style.

We are planning on keeping this Annual but we don’t want to stay with the same theme every year because I think Tiki – non the less is easy it is way to played out… I need ideas for the upcoming years.

Me and my wife came up with a few ideas already but would still love input on this subject….

Ideas we have are :
1st. Margaritaville
2nd. Mid Summer Nights Dream

Thanks
